If you’ve lived in Portland for very long you know there are two Portland’s – East and West. The Westside is defined by downtown towers and opulent hillside homes. The Eastside is known for quiet neighborhoods and a more working class ethic. One of the things that the Westside has long had is a very useful light rail system. Recently North Portland had a new line added that is a key part of Interstate’s revitalization.
Now, finally the MAX and lightrail are expanding eastward through neighborhoods and not just along I-84. See Details here
Eastside transit Map
I am very excited about this growth of public transit because I think it is very forward thinking. Portland is growing and will continue to grow. Match that with gas prices going up and in 10-20 years our transit system will be as widely used as New York City’s. Already rising gas prices have put over a million new riders a month on the MAX system.
Smart investors are already looking for good deals along these new transit corridors.
